Dear Teachers and Parents!
Imagine students coming in the door and going straight to a computer or tablet and excitingly jumping right into a lesson. More children come in, and soon the room
Is full of eager students having fun learning a way to communicate with ANYONE IN THE WORLD! It’s also the perfect time to check in with each student to encourage
them while seeing how they are doing in the world. After 20 minutes the class should be ready to start more formal lessons! The key to students succeeding at “Kids
Draw People” is a fun environment and ideally doing some drawing in it every day.
Children are born believing they can do ANYTHING until someone tells them otherwise. The billions of crayons sold every year show that children love to draw!
Soon the phrase ”Only talented people can draw”, becomes ”I can’t draw”, and the oldest form of communication is lost forever!
Kids Draw People is not a drawing App but rather an App that uses drawing to teach children to use the oldest form of communication! We still get messages from
over 40,000 years ago from caves! IF YOU CAN DRAW YOU CAN COMMUNICATE WITH ANYONE IN THE WORLD!
The language select button opens up a whole new world! If a student and teacher each speak a different language, it helps them both communicate to understand
the lesson. As children are naturally curious, they will want to see what other languages look like! They absolutely should be encouraged to switch back and forth with
the button and ask about who speaks those languages. This is called “Parallel Learning” and lets the children pick up words in other languages. This should certainly
be expanded on by the teacher and can be used in other classroom lessons!
The story at the bottom of the pages has the student drawing about their first day in school and creates a frame of reference for the child to start. The self-awareness
aspect creates confidence and “Sequential learning and implementation”. This skill helps with planning future events, and all this from what appears to be a simple
coloring and “Dot to Dot” book!
Another VERY IMPORTANT PART is to have the student copy what they drew for the last page of each mini lesson as they see it on the screen.
Drawing on paper at this point creates a “Transfer of learning” situation that is very powerful! It increases “Tactile Awareness” and teaches
the child they are not dependent on the App to draw! Another benefit is it increases the child’s “Power of Observation”!
The only thing a student needs to concentrate on is COMPLETION! “There is no wrong in Art” and that means it’s OK to draw outside the lines!
These are young children so the goal is not to create artists but to build confidence! Completion builds confidence and all the skills the children
pick up remain with them for a lifetime! Analytical thinking at a very young age.
The key to success is to TAKE YOUR TIME AND HAVE FUN! Drawing outside the lines is ENCOURAGED! The students learn more by being
stress-free and having the time to learn. Encourage them to add as many details as they can think of! This leads to a better comprehension of what
they are doing as well as stretches out the lessons for days. The self-drawing pages at the end let the lessons continue on indefinitely.
